Bay Chamber Concerts presents “The Nightingale’s Sonata” at the Rockport (Maine) Opera House on August 9, 2019 at 5:30 pm. (Ticket purchase is required.)
Geoff Nuttall, violin; Pedja Muzijevic, piano; Thomas Wolf, reader/narrator
An evening of music, historical photographs, and readings from Bay Chamber Concerts’ co-founder Thomas Wolf’s new book The Nightingale’s Sonata. This richly woven tapestry centers around his grandmother, the legendary violinist Lea Luboshutz, and her remarkable musical family. Spanning generations, from the shores of the Black Sea to the glittering concert halls of New York, it is also the story of Cèsar Franck’s magnificent violin sonata which will be performed during the evening. Of special interest is a focus on Rockport, Maine as one of the first vibrant summer music centers in America beginning in the 1930s and extending to today.
A free book and concert reception is included in the ticket price.
